BMW 135i – BBS LM Replica Wheels Installed

My APEX TPMS sensors came in so I was able to get the new wheels mounted. I dropped the car off and couldn’t wait to pick it back up…

No rubbing issues! The fenders are untouched, no rolling/pulling.

    1. I’m very happy with them. They’ve held up great and drive straight with no vibrations. I have a dirt driveway at one of my houses and they’ve gotten filthy a few times. A little soap and they look brand new again!

      1. How’s the front clearance? Debating the h&r sports which is supposed to be about the same rear but another .5 or so up front… Could I swing that drop with your setup?

        1. The clearance is good. I wish I could bring the rear down a bit, but I like how it sits. I have noticed after driving on them for a while now, they do occasionally rub very slightly. Only over large dips or turning onto steep driveways. I’m sure a slight fender roll would take care of the issue, but I can’t even hear it when the radio is on.

  1. Just wondering if you are rubbing since you got the new wheels. Does the esm wheesl feel heavy on the butt dyno. With this suspension and wheel set up can you go all out (drive sprited) like how you where before or do you have to be cautious due to your set up.

    1. Sometimes it rubs very slightly. Like I said in the previous comment, only over large dips or when I’m entering a steep driveway. I’m sure a slight fender roll would take care of the issue. I can still drive all-out without a problem, this setup doesn’t hold me back. It does look like there is some camber though, so that might be helping me out when it comes to rubbing.

The front wheels weight about 23lbs and the rears are about 25lbs. I’m not sure how that compares to stock.

  2. Hi Jake,
Thinking about going with esm 004 with similar offsets that you had. What did you think about the ride quality? Any reason for replacing them to your current setup.
I was thinking of running them with the stock m-sport suspension and with my current run flats and hoping it wouldn’t rub over bumps.
    Your thoughts?

    1. The wheels themselves were great. The only thing you will feel a difference in is the tires. I ran my ESM wheels on Eibach Pro-Kit springs, but you should be fine on the stock suspension if the tires aren’t much wider. I changed setups because I wanted to run a wider tire, so the APEX wheels fit the bill.

    1. Hi Ridhaa – yes I believe they would. You would have to do some serious fender rolling/pulling to make them fit unless you ran really skinny tires.
